Alice B. Seedorff

            

            Alice Bertha Seedorff, daughter of Fred and Emma Westendorf, was born March 27, 1920, in rural Sumner, Iowa. She was baptized April 18, 1920, and confirmed May 25, 1934, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Grove Hill of rural Fairbank. She received her education in the Oran area schools.

            On June 6, 1946, she was united in marriage with Darrel E. Seedorff at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Grove Hill. The couple farmed for many years in the rural Sumner area, near Oran. Alice was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Oran where she had been active in the Ladies Aid and the quilting group. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, baking, playing cards, and dancing.

            Alice made her home in Readlyn for a few years before becoming a resident of the Bartels Lutheran Home in Waverly. Her death occurred there on Wednesday, November 16, 2011. She was ninety-one years old.

            She is survived by two sons, Allen (Dianna) Seedorff of Elk Run Heights and David (Suzanne) Seedorff of Readlyn; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren.

            She was preceded in death by her husband, who died April 13, 1987; her parents; five sisters, Meta Kasemeier, Hilda Kasemeier, Edna Buhr, Elizabeth Westendorf, and Esther Westendorf; and two brothers, Paul Westendorf and Reinhart Westendorf.

         Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2011, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Oran with Rev. Sandra Burroughs officiating. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery.  Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2011, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner and for one hour preceding services at the church on Saturday. The family suggests that friends may, if they wish, make memorial donations in Alice’s name to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Oran, kitchen project.

Thinking of your families at this difficult time. Alice always had a smile on her face, and loved to talk about Nick and Stacy whenever I saw her. What a sweet lady-I will always remember that smile.
